the inner circle
of my mind’s eye
likes to think that they are friends
my inner ear
with the binds that tie
is pondering these loose ends
of the things you have said
that I don’t understand
the hands of the clock
are made up of sand
if you’ve noticed
grit flowing
refining my thoughts
into panic
and fun things
the calendar has taught
please excuse
squinting ears now
they’re impatient.
I love the idea of impatient eyes! (On another note: I did used to have a cat with impatient legs…)

This is a clever poem. I liked it. The title says the two most important things in life, I think. 🙂

Why thank you! I’m so glad you did.
I agree about the title, except i think there is a third, and that is, I’m sorry. oh, and a fourth, I forgive you. 🙂

Vanessa, after reading this and the last two posts I am trying to make my ears squint whilst trying to work out the connection between Gnomes and Grandmothers. It’s only Monday lol 🙂 Oh forgot, excellent poem.

haha I appreciate the effort Mr D!
I actually wrote that story right after I woke up from a dream I don’t remember much of. I wrote the six word story first, but the rest of it was in my mind, then I just decided to connect it.
I had actually been thinking about dementia and some of the things hubby and I had been discussing (my husband’s on the board of our local church nursing home) and I had these really interesting dreamy wisps leftover about travelling and postcards. And the strangest feeling of loss when I woke from my dream…I guess you could say the subject in the postcard was missing.
Then, like I do, I tangented with travelling through this woman’s mind together…and making a joke about finding the heart of the story, and well, I guess you can make of it all what you will. 🙂
And thank you!

It all makes sense now Vanessa 🙂 I wouldn’t have got anywhere near that.
