Safer Ground, pt 2

no one is around (part one)

She didn’t say anything. Why wasn’t she saying anything?
But she had. She just couldn’t hear her.
She had always heard her through her heart, and now it was frozen to her cheeks.
He lifted her up as her chest was caving in. He sang instead. The words she had taught him when they met, years before. The ones she had heard from her mother’s friend. Before they never saw him again.

“Little girl, there’s safer ground…”
That ground. Rising up out of the sea of him.

Lyrics:
mother they are coming again
they come to shoot what we already lost
 mother they are coming again
our silver covered by their rust

father they are coming again
they come to jail the things that i have seen
 father they are coming again
burning minds to keep the ruin clean

no one is around

„little girl there’s safer ground
follow the sea and you will find that place
 little girl there’s safer ground
come take your years and put them in their hands“

And now, reading the two pieces together, they carry a resonance of that relationship even further. The long strain of grief, how it endures, how we need comfort, how we train others how we need comfort. Both alone are excellent, together they are really, really fantastic. I would call for marrying them together and asking this to be a guest blog at the GDG my friend, to help illustrate how real relationships work. Maybe, I can even work on my poem to help frame the two, perhaps develop the voice in my poem to the mother who is looking down on the couple. What do you think?

(oh… and the video link is no longer available).

          Thank you so much!!
And yes, if you like, I’d be honoured to have it on GDG. But I am wondering if you post it with your ‘Hey there little girl’ poem instead? Just becuase I think it is so cool they were written years and worlds apart but embrace a similar spirit even though about different things?

Oh wow, I’ve just checked out my Stats, looks like my poetry promotions on the cruise have paid off, my hits for the last 4 days have been 113, 150, 180, and 135 today, ah the mystical power of the ocean and alcohol 😆

Good to revisit this one too, and I never did do what I had contemplated doing. Perhaps I still will with your permission? Your words are powerful and speak fully without anything I could add. Wonderful to revisit this one and again, I guess since I didn’t catch the song last time, to be able to catch it this time. A beautiful piece all around.
