she put on her headphones and walked the universe…

she had an assignment, of course. And that is what she did when she was struggling with her writing.
One thing was always obvious. Humans on earth had issues. She then wondered if the humans in the new settlement nearest them, were the same.

She did a little eavesdropping…

A: No. I’m sorry, I really don’t want to listen to that song.

B: But it’s so beautiful.

A: It’s so sad.

B: It’s so real.

A: But it’s so pretentious.

B: No. I really don’t want to listen to your… (accessing dictionary). I don’t understand how you can be simple at a time like this.

A: What time is this? What does simple mean?

B: How can you not know?

A: I do know. I am just curious what your take is on it.

B: On which question? Could you at least turn that other song down? Its upbeat is really getting me down.

A: I am not playing another song.

B: Oh come on…then who is? It sounds like that song we used to play to inspire us to leave earth…

Thanks Gina! I just haven’t been writing much lately, but today I needed to do something. I really didn’t care if no one read it, I just needed to do it. Always a nice surprise to see you lovely people here ❤

I enjoyed this so much! Disembodied voices — could be anyone, anywhere, right now or forever.

It reminded me of a favorite line in The Life and Loves of a She-Devil: Our useless bleatings circle the universe for all eternity.

      Hi Basilike!
      I’m so glad, thank you.
That is a great line! Our useless talkings past each other and our broken nuance radars and irony radars and wit radars etc. etc. etc. not to mention ego issues…so many things blinding us…

I used to want to make up a t-shirt: if you can’t laugh at yourself, then I will gladly do it. LOL.

      Hi Steve,
      haha, yes, interesting.
We’re kind of a mess, us humans…it makes me incredibly sad and frustrated at times, and other times, I probably laugh much harder than I should…but there I go being insecure about that, or something…
