wednesday (part one)

It felt so much like a Wednesday – porous and drifting. Just what he needed.

It wasn’t quite cold enough to start a fire, which kind of threw him. It’s always nice to have a fire to work by. But he reasoned with himself that the digs were getting shallower. The doctor said that was a good thing – his need was lessening to build defenses from the debris he found. She thought he was inching closer to jumping off and grabbing the drifting instead.

He so wanted her to be right. But he wasn’t sure.
He looked down at his journal. Apparently he had been writing in it.

there’s so much blood all over my un-reach.
This is the refrain. I need to re-write the refrain. I need to let it rain.

Damn, I also need to work on my rhyming. Like, stop doing it.
Maybe Friday.

Some of you might have read this, I started this short series earlier this year, and as it was pretty rough and piece meal, decided to edit the whole thing and re post it.

Hi yes, it was something I posted in May…I actually put two short series together. But it really needed some polishing…it had different threads I enjoyed bringing together, but then it got sidelined. A friend said something yesterday that reminded me of it.
I’m so glad if you like it!

Lol. It likely is a line I’ve used on you before. It’s in my repot war. (Going with phonetic since it’s not giving me the easy out of the correct suggested spelling)

haha yes i would say a resounding Amen to that first point…(not the ego part, of course) i thought you might appreciate the church language 😀
oh that question…such a wonderful topic really, if you want some kind of email finally, when I get a chance!! lol.
Short answer, i keep my time as stress free as possible this time of year…i try not to get pulled into unnecessary bs. I love Christmas! Darrin is a lot busier of course, but he loves it. And we take every opportunity to celebrate…last night at bible study we had cake and champagne. Have decided we should do that more, what the heck!
How are things for you guys at this time?

I remember (as an altar boy) even through Easter was MUCH more traumatic in terms of time spent in church… Christmas had Midnight mass. Ergh. Which was always such a mission…

This time Christmas was lazy. And sunny. And beachy.

A very Vanessa piece, Vanessa: layers and uncertainty and possibilities and mystery. Apparently it’s you who is writing, and as well making the world of your readers like me less shallow as the defences crumble. Best wishes for the festive season and for 2020.

Steve, I am so moved by your unexpected comment. I am sincerely honoured by such a high compliment. I am a bit lost for words.
And thank you for the wishes, I really appreciate that. I have friends and family who have been affected by the hellish fires in the Adelaide hills. But once again, profoundly moved by the way the communities have pulled together. I hope to concentrate more on the wonderful potential of humans next year, and not get caught up so much in the toxic media spews… wish me luck. lol.
I wish you the same Steve. I can’t fully express how much enjoyment i get from your writing, thank you for enriching my life in such a profound way. 🥂✨🎉

My pleasure Vanessa. The clock is ticking towards 2020 and let us hope for better. I would also like to see the positive side of humanity, but I find it very difficult on the broad scale.

I’m not on the same planet as profound, I accept that, but I’m happy with what I do. And, whatever direction you chose to take your obvious talent, I wish you success.

          Thanks again Steve! 🙏

Well I often feel I am on that planet when I read your writing…but maybe it’s a different planet and I am confused. That wouldn’t surprise me lol. But whatever it is, thank you for firing up some lazy synapses.
