six word story (by Alex Lloyd)

“I’ll open up when everybody’s laughing”.

I’ve loved this song, this album, for ages. And I thought I should write a short thank you to everyone who reads and honours me with supportive comments on my blog (one that has no idea about its identity at times, but it’s fun!) and I have so enjoyed connecting with you through it. To steal another line from this song: “I’d go with you on a road to nowhere.”

Oh road trips, how I love you…

Lyrics:

There is something exciting
About leaving everything behind
There is something deep and pulling
Leaving everything behind
Something about having everything
You think you’ll ever need
Sitting in the seat next to you

And i watch another white dash
Another white dash
Another white dash
Fly beside us
And I watch another white dash
Another white dash
Another white dash
Fly beneath us
Away away

There is
Yelling of an engine a constant rattling door
There is serious deep and mumbled
A conversation I’m not in
Flickering lights shadows of trees
Makes me blink my eyes
Makes the land appear like a really old movie
And I watch…

And i watch another white dash
Another white dash
Another white dash
Fly beside us
And I watch another white dash
Another white dash
Another white dash
Fly beneath us
Away away
I got a heart full of rubber bands that keep getting caught on things

And I count another white dash
Another white dash
Another white dash
I drift off at eighty…something
And I count another white dash
Another white dash
Another white dash
Out of time with the music

Something exciting about leaving everything behind
There is something deep and pulling
Leaving everything behind
Something about having everything
You think you’ll ever need
Sitting in the seat next to you

don’t touch me

This wonderful poem

In Amber – Howl Davies

reminded me of this wonderful song, by one of the most remarkable poets, imho.

Nick Cave lost one of his teenage sons over a year ago. It was tragic, he fell from a cliff. I wondered at the time if something as catastrophically devastating as that would paralyse his art creating. But of course, I was wrong. We are talking about Nick Cave, after all…

I have been fortunate to have seen Nick Cave a couple of times in concert. This rather blurry photo is of a concert photo given to me by my photographer friend, Ken Binns.

my dear friend
my old friend
my forever friend
so happy we reconnected
and friendship should always be celebrated (didn’t expect this did you? Ha. Gotcha. Plus, I always liked this song! Just thought of it today after we parted. Girl, how you make me laugh.)
Above all those others, keep flying… ❤

First day of the year.

Evaluating movement through life’s substance. (Or is it residue?)

Remember when you told me Vaseline was made from gasoline, and here, have some for the healing…

Remember how we wanted that clown for the party?
Me neither.

(I tried to publish this three times and WP didn’t save it for some reason. Hence the title 🙂 …I thought it was just me. Maybe it is…)
