She was so happy she finally had her driver’s license.
But she wasn’t going to drive around, looking for the things on this list she knew wouldn’t be found, so she took a hot tea flask with her.
She wanted to drive to this song, she laughed to herself. The memory of it, she was sure, came through one of those sky “bullet” holes (one that was a little bigger, and rougher edged than the others.)
She stared at the list again. Feeling a tad surprised, she made a small edit:
distant echoes of applause, not imaginary
Lyrics:
Deadlines again
feel like hiding out
no sign of comfort yet
have a nap while no one’s looking
bring some inspiration to the man.
In my head
a namesake out of reach
Strange days upon us now
where the dust of conversation
hanging in the light above the bed
Leave me now
cos tonight it’s driving me mad
I guess I’ll be all right
but tonight it’s driving me mad
Year after year
the demons always come
fail to materialise
way beyond my understanding
find my only comfort in your hands
Hold me now
cos tonight it’s driving me mad
this dream can fill you up
but tonight it’s driving me mad
Hey diamond girl
restless in my head
say what lies between us
a host of everyday distractions
most of all it’s music taking me
It’s driving me mad
still I can’t refuse
even when it’s driving me mad
I guess I’ll be all right
when tomorrow brings some relief
This dream can fill you up
so put it out
and find what’s underneath…

The bullet holes in the sky, still a mystery. It’s a lovely series and I think I missed parts. I missed you too!

An enjoyable mystery, Vanessa, with plenty of room for readers like me to project their own interpolations. It brought back memories of driving: different places, different music, different feelings, coming in through the holes. I’m starting to think that everything lost does not go to the moon; it depends, some stuff might travel a long way out in the universe.
